On Saturday, June 28th from 6:00 – 10:00pm, Saint Louis Cellars was proud to host the first charity auction for Joe’s Place, a community partnership that provides a safe place to live for young men in need–Joe’s Place serves MRH High School students who have struggled to find a stable place to live. The event brought in over 300 people and helped to raise over $20,000 for this amazing organization, a new fundraising record for an event at Saint Louis Cellars. Thank you to everyone who came by and made the event such a rousing success!
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT JOE’S PLACE…
Joe’s Place is staffed by qualified house parents who are interviewed and selected by the Joe’s Place project committee. These individuals receive room and board and a small stipend in exchange for serving as house parents five days a week. Students check into the house on Sunday evening and out on Friday. Local churches and area restaurants provide evening meals two days a week. The other days, house parents and students cook meals together. Community volunteers serve as mentors and tutors for the residents of Joe’s Place.
A therapist on staff with Community Alternatives, Inc. will provide clinical interventions for the MRH School District Alternative Education programs through funds provided by a state Safe Schools Grant. The therapist’s office will be located in the lower level of Joe’s Place. She will provide regular sessions for each of the student residents of Joe’s Place and meet with the entire group of student residents and the house parents in regular sessions to discuss issues that may arise in the house.
Residents at Joe’s Place learn to cook and do their own laundry. They keep their rooms clean and help care for the rest of the house. And importantly, they set aside time each night to study their school work and develop their academic skills.

On Thursday, June 12th, from 5:30 – 7:30pm, Saint Louis Cellars and Saint Louis Closet Co. hosted the United Way Women’s Leadership Kickoff & Annual Purse Auction. Over 400 women (and a few gentlemen) came to bid on over 60 silent auction purses and 8 live auction purses, all donated by some of the most successful women in St. Louis. The event was emceed by KMOX’s Carol Daniel and it was the United Way’s most successful purse auction to date!! Saint Louis Cellars was proud to donate the space for the event, and even more thrilled to be able to donate 10% of every bottle of wine sold that night to the campaign. We tasted 8 different wines (click the image below to see it), and we thank everyone who came out and made it such a success!!
